Pricing

Priced against the shipment.

One container of specialised cargo carries more freight spend than a year of most software subscriptions. We price against the money at stake, we publish the number, and we take nothing from the other side of the table.

The bands

The fee follows the cargo value.

Not the freight bill, which you may not know yet, and not a subscription. The value of the goods, because that is what is exposed if the shipment goes wrong and it is the number you always have.

Put it in proportion

A $1,200 report against a $47,000 freight bill is 2.6% of the decision. If it moves the freight by three percent it has paid for itself, and the reports that matter most are the ones that stop a five-figure mistake rather than the ones that shave the rate.

Lane Check, answered instantly, for $49.

Every Lane Report we run adds real transacted quotes to a library of corridors nobody publishes rates for. Once that library is deep enough on a given corridor, the desk research stops needing a human.

Lane Check AI will answer the feasibility question in seconds rather than 48 hours: the indicative range, the documents and permits, the restrictions, and a confidence score based on how many comparable quotes actually sit behind the answer.

It will be an indication, never a quotation. An estimate presented as a price is worse than no estimate, because you would put it in front of your customer. The confidence score is the honest part and it is why this cannot ship before the library exists.

The terms that matter

Three promises, in plain language.

No commission, ever

We take nothing from any forwarder. Not a placement fee, not a referral, not a cut of the booking. You contract with them directly and we step out.

Refund if we find nothing

If the report surfaces no option better than what you have, you get the fee back and keep the report. A benchmark that confirms you were right is still worth having.

Charged on acceptance

You are billed when we accept the brief, not when you submit it. If screening rejects the lane you pay nothing and we tell you why within one working day.

Why is this not a subscription for twenty dollars a month?

Because the work is real. Eight approaches, several days of chasing, and the normalisation of quotes that arrive on incompatible bases. A tool priced like a consumer app would have to be fully automated, and the lanes we are useful on are exactly the ones that cannot be automated yet. When they can be, that product is Lane Check AI at $49, and we will say so plainly rather than pretending the human version was always overpriced.

Is $1,200 reasonable for a document?

Compare it to what it replaces. A logistics consultant's day rate runs $1,000 to $2,500, and a report is about a day of skilled work spread over five. Rate benchmarking subscriptions run into the tens of thousands a year. Generic industry research PDFs that nobody customised sell for $3,000 to $10,000. A bespoke document with real quotes in it, on your shipment, sits comfortably below custom consultancy and well above commodity data.

What happens if fewer than three forwarders reply?

You get the report with whatever we obtained, plus the record of who declined and why, and we refund half the fee. A thin market is a finding in itself and it usually means the lane is harder than you thought.

Can we pay in euros or lira?

Yes. Prices are quoted in US dollars and we invoice in EUR, GBP, TRY or AED at the prevailing rate on the invoice date. Net 14 on invoice.

Do you sign NDAs?

For Desk customers, yes, as part of the agreement. For a single report we work to a standard confidentiality undertaking covering your shipment details, your customer and your pricing. Forwarders never see your company name unless you ask us to name you.

What do you do with the rate data?

We retain quotes in anonymised form to build a picture of what complex cargo actually costs on corridors nobody publishes rates for. Your company, your customer and your commercial terms are never part of that. It is set out in the terms you accept at intake, and it is what eventually makes Lane Check possible at $49.
